Opportunity
The Tjanpi project was a chance to honour and support the work of Aboriginal women artists by improving the way their stories and creations are presented online. With deep cultural meaning behind every piece, the goal was to create a platform that respected the artists, connected better with customers, and made their work more accessible across Australia and beyond.
The focus was on uplifting the visibility of both product and purpose—bringing together commerce and culture through intuitive design, better storytelling, and clearer user pathways.
Outcome
The refreshed Shopify site now gives Tjanpi a warmer, more refined digital presence that reflects the spirit of the brand and the communities behind it. The new design improves product browsing and better communicates the value of each handmade piece.
Key improvements included enhanced navigation, clearer collection structures, and integrated storytelling throughout. This has created a more engaging customer experience and a strong foundation for future growth and visibility.

Testimonial
Highly recommend David and DAC Design! They were incredibly generous and productive with their time, genuinely invested in high quality outcomes which met (and surpassed) our goals and fulfilled our needs, and embraced our niche social enterprise structure and backend systems with curiosity, positivity and creativity, despite its inherent complications and restrictions.
David is a wonderful listener and consistently offered multiple tailored solutions, taking time to communicate pros and cons of each and showing visual examples to inform our understanding and choice. His passion for digital design and development was evident through his work ethic, which went above and beyond our expectations.
David supported our need to self-manage our site to our fullest potential post-project by (patiently) teaching and upskilling us along the way. Him and his team listened to the realities of our limited resources and subsequently optimised our site systems to foresee and lessen unavoidable challenges, whilst completely eliminating or greatly improving others. They held focus on our brief objectives with flexibility, adapting as we resolved ideas during the development phase.
We felt empowered by the design and technical support we received, and are thrilled at the practical, smart and versatile outcomes achieved. The impact of this collab has improved our reach, branding, customer experience and workplace efficiency.
A sincere thank you to DAC Design for their time, care and efforts.

Tjanpi (meaning wild harvested grass) began in 1995 as a series of basket-making workshops facilitated by NPY Women’s Council on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands of WA.
While artwork sales support this work, donations help sustain operations, fund community visits, supply materials, and run workshops that keep cultural traditions alive. Your support ensures this legacy continues for future generations.
