Clamont

Finale

Clamont, a cornerstone of Australian cycling since the 1980s, was more than just a bicycle brand; it was a legend. Born from the partnership between master builder Geoff Scott and Clarence Street Cyclery, it forged champions on steel that carried riders to Olympic gold and world records. Every frame reflected an uncompromising pursuit of excellence and a deep understanding of the symbiosis between cyclist and machine that defined an era.

Opportunity

The project began with an extraordinary challenge: to build what would become the final Clamont frame in the brand's storied history. Working directly with Geoff Scott meant accessing decades of unparalleled expertise and witnessing firsthand the meticulous process that created champions.

The collaboration revealed the intricate connection between rider measurement, geometry calculations, and material selection that defines true custom frame building. Every tube angle, every lug cut, and every braze joint represented not just technical precision but an intimate understanding of how steel becomes an extension of the cyclist.

This was more than commissioning a bicycle. It was a chance to preserve a disappearing craft and document the methods of Australia's most celebrated frame builder before this knowledge passed into cycling folklore.

Outcome

The final build represents both an ending and a beginning - the last chapter of Clamont's legendary run and a testament to enduring craftsmanship in an increasingly mass-produced world. From initial measurements to final assembly, every process honoured the traditions that made Australian steel frames the choice of champions.

The completed frame carries forward Geoff Scott's uncompromising standards while embodying the soul of custom building that defined an era. It stands as both functional art and historical artifact, preserving techniques honed across Olympic victories and world records.

This collaboration strengthens the connection between master and craft, ensuring that the knowledge, passion, and precision that built champions continues to inspire future generations of cyclists and builders alike.
